2008 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
OFTM VOLUNTEERS INFO FOR SUNDAY 2/17
Thank you if you have already notified me that you will be volunteering at the race on Sunday.  The more enthusiastic volunteers that we have, the better the race.  It takes many many volunteers to make this race a success so all hands are greatly appreciated. If you haven't committed and would like to help, let me know.   We would like to have all volunteers present by 9:00.  By 9:30 you will be assigned to a captain and given your responsibilities.  Please dress appropriately as your duty may find you cheering on the crowd outside at a mile marker shouting out splits or directing runners at an important turn in the course. **** Looking for a few volunteers to help the treasurer, but your duties would not be needed until after the race starts around 11.  Please let me know ASAP if you can help with this. Pre-registered runners are around 300 right now and will grow even larger by this weekend.  The weather looks perfect so race day sign-ups are going to be quite large.  We are looking forward to the largest turnout ever so, get ready to RUNble!  Any questions about volunteering, please email ssheehy@mindspring.com.

MARATHON WATER STOP -  VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Wamps will again be manning a water stop at this year's Boston Marathon. Nobody hydrates a runner like a Wamp!  It will likely be the same one as last year at mile 12.  So if you aren’t running and don’t feel like going to work, we could sure use your help.  Go to www.baa.org.  Go to their website, under marathon, volunteering, find online volunteer registration. Fill out the information including Wampanoag for club affiliation and 12 mile water stop if they ask.  You can look up your volunteer ID if you have volunteered in the past.  At the end when you submit it, they will ask if you are part of a group, answer yes.  The group name is Wampanoag and the passcode is Betty.  If you have any questions please contact our Wamp WaterStop Captain, Steve Squadrilli at SSquadrilli@comcast.net

BAA HALF MARATHON
To sign up, please go to www.baa.org, under the half marathon, select volunteer.  I don’t know the order of what you will see, but you will need to:
  • attach yourself to the group name Wampanoag
  • use the password "betty"
  • sign up for waterstop #2 which is the 4 mile mark
You don’t have to be a Wamp to participate so feel free to invite family and friends to join you!  See you there. This a one of the greatest club volunteer opportunities around.  It's a great way to see the thousands of runners who run the 1/2 marathon from the Eliites to the DieHards.  Much fun is had by all.
ROB ROSE AND THE FALL FESTIVAL NEEDS YOUR HELP
If you're not helping at the BAA Half Marathon, why not help out close to home.  The 6TH ANNUAL FALL FESTIVAL 5K in Plainville starts at 9:30.  You can get a quick run in, or even run the race, too. They can always use runners along with volunteers.  Email Ron Farkash if you can help at rfarkash@yahoo.com
