The Wampanoag Road Runners Club is open to all levels of runners.
We currently have over 200 members and growing everyday. The club is dedicated to creating a supportive community
of runners. We organize group runs, plan races, train together, volunteer, and have alot of fun. So whether you're a long time road warrior, a casual "jogger", or merely contemplating taking up the sport for the first time, come join us on the roads, tracks, and trails as we chase that elusive "runner's high". Read this humorous observation
that pretty much sums up our obsession: "Those Mad People That Run"

A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
It's hard to believe that this club has members that are old enough to remember; but the Wampanoag Road Runners are celebrating 25 years!!!
If New Year's Day is any indication; the Wamps will be boogeying in style. Despite bone-chilling temps outside; 30+ Wamps(new, old, HOF-ers) cruised through the ice and snow over the original 5 mile loop through the industrial park off of Landry avenue. Bill Dunphy and Kevin Downing pointed out where they used to fight off T-Rex and raptors back in the good old days. Post run festivities back in the warmth of DB Sports were enjoyed by all. As always, thank you to Kevin for offering his store as our home base.
Now that Resolution time is upon us; it's time to ramp up the Wednesday night runs again. 6:15 start for a leisurely stroll of 6 miles. Show up early at 5:30 for some bonus mileage. Added wrinkle...try running up through Westwood Estates...well lit, less traffic.
The Old Fashioned Ten Miler is a few short weeks away; Dave Donnelly is always in need of a few extra able bodies; so mark February 15th on the calender and lend a hand!
As we gear up for the Boston Marathon; rumor of an extremely fast entrant from the West coast has been confirmed. Not Ben Coyle (2:50 and change...not too shabby); but Ryan Hall will be battling the most storied road course known to man. Get signed up early; the race and the bus are both filling rapidly. Sandy's crew will be pounding out the miles on Saturdays with new runners always welcome. The regular Sunday runs are always popular. There is also the option of wandering around the woods with Roland or Ron for a few hours. A few Wamps have even been spotted sweating out "essence" over at Open Doors Yoga in N.Attleboro. Wamps like to partake in all the meats of our cultural stew!!
There will be several exciting events to commemorate the 25th anniversary; possibly including a "Presidential Grand Prix".
Keep an eye on the website for details (our webmasters are promising a virtual reality experience in early fall) of all upcoming Wamp events
Sincerely, Sean "PWOTY" McNamara
